2016 graduates Wyatt Dodd, Patrick Ford, Hall Lamar, Tommy Davlin and Henry Timken (right) had one last memory-making Dragon get-together last week before heading off to college this fall. The five hit the trail in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park last Thursday at 3:30 a.m. and summited Longs (14,256 feet above sea level) a little less than six hours later. Well done, Dragons!
Despite the searing heat Sunday, Andrew Braff ’17 and William Braff ’17, new student and cross-country team member Charlie Courtemanche ’18, and cross-country coach Chad Ploskina all posted extraordinary times in the East Bay Half Marathon in Providence. Andrew and William came in first place and second place in their 19-and-under age group. Here’s an opportunity to publicize your business or broadcast a special message to Dragon fans across the globe: Thanks to a generous donation from a parent, we’ll be providing a free live audio stream of all the home varsity football games this fall — and we’re now taking orders for ads. Ads on the broadcasts range from $25 for a 15- to 30-second message to full game sponsorship for a few hundred dollars. All ads will be read by our professional announcer on air during stoppages of play, between quarters or to introduce starting lineups, key stats, players of the game, etc. Contact the Alumni Office for more details and to arrange your purchase: email@example.com or 888-422-5574. The Dragons are coming off an undefeated 2015 dream season that ended in SG’s first-ever NEPSAC bowl game victory Nov. 20, 2015. Home games for the 2016 season are:
• Friday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. against Portsmouth Abbey
• Saturday, Oct. 1, at 4:30 p.m. against St. Mark’s
• Saturday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m. vs. Groton
• Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. vs. Middlesex
A full schedule of all fall sports is on our website.
About 40 alumni, parents and friends joined us at our reception on Nantucket last Thursday. View the photos on our Flickr.com site. Many thanks to all of our guests and especially to Emmy and Charlie Kilvert '72, parents of Chad '16 and Peggy '14 (with Krista and Eric Peterson, right) for hosting the event at their home. It was a lovely evening.
Congratulations to Eliza Ghriskey ’10 for being the first to respond with the correct answer to our trivia challenge last week. Eliza, a former resident of Old School dormitory, instantly recognized this photo as the top floor of the building facing West Steps.
This week's challenge: What team did the Dragons defeat to win the Kevin Fleming Bowl last fall, capping their undefeated football season? The first to respond wins a coupon code for $10 off a purchase from the SG bookstore.
