Bailey has been a solid contributor to the team playing at her midfield position all season. On Wednesday’s tough back and forth game against Rivers, Bailey was first to the ball at the draw several times which often resulted in points scored for SG. Girls JV Lacrosse

This past weekend, Lizzie's efforts in the goal propelled the JV girls lacrosse team to an exciting win over Brooks, 9-7. From the first minute of the game, Lizzie came to play, setting the tone early, with some key stops on point-blank shots. Throughout the game, she maintained an even-keel, playing well from start to finish. Her inspirational play throughout the contest provided the foundation for the team's excellent play and positive outcome.

Girls JV Tennis

Lily has come back to tennis a stronger and more skilled player which has earned her a #2 singles position on the team this season. In a very tough match against St. Mark’s on Saturday, Lily and the rest of her teammates struggled through their first sets. Lily hit the court for her second set determined to win. She worked the ball, rushed the ball aggressively and came off the court having won 6-0. Well done, Lily!

Charlotte has focused all season on improving her skills and this hard work was very helpful on Saturday against Middlesex. She helped the team fight in a very close game, earning an assist as well as a hat trick to keep the Dragons in the game.

Jennifer Driscoll
Posted Monday, Feb 26, 2018 10:30:46 AM

Girls Varsity Basketball

Jen has led the team all season at the point position. With her unceasing hustle and her spot on passing, Jen works to generate offense for the team, while also being scrappy on D. When down after halftime against Pomfret this week, she scored three consecutive three-pointers to take back the lead. Jen’s consistency and hustle have been huge factors in the team’s success.

Hayden Bertsch
Posted Monday, Feb 5, 2018 10:30:00 AM

Boys Varsity Squash

With the team match tied 3-3, Haydens's match was the last to go on court, with both teams and their collected parents and fans all watching.  He came out on fire against a strong opponent and lost two very close games, putting him behind 0-2.  However, a fierce competitiveness drove him to dig deeper and, in a dramatic back-and-forth battle, he won the next three games and sent the team into the semi-finals with the 4-3 win.

Harriet Jones

Harriet did a great job of being both a captain and a contributor to an exciting team win on Wednesday. Her ability to adapt to an opponent’s strength and dig deep mentally in the fourth and fifth sets truly separates her from her competition. Her drive and dedication to improvement is an asset to the team.

Leiya Stuart
Posted Monday, Jan 22, 2018 11:00:00 AM

Leiya averaged 20 pts per game last week, leading us to a big win over Lawrence Academy. She has been a consistent force on offense and has maintained composure in the toughest of games. She has proven to be a player who truly wants to learn and improve. We are lucky to have her!

Megan Grimes

Meggy was a strong anchor at center for her line in two hard fought battles last week. She then hopped back and played a full game at defense when three players were out last Saturday. She is always a team player and giving everything she has- she was truly the “Athlete of the ENTIRE Week”.

Riley has shown that she is an integral member of the team, as she stepped into the opening tournament with nothing but determination and hustle. She has already established herself as one of the most vocal players on the court and has impressed the coaching staff with ability to learn and contribute so early in the season.

In his second career game, Archer tallied his first two goals. The first goal, a one-time slap shot, tied the game, and the second, a shorthanded effort, was the game winner in a hard fought 2-1 victory over Portsmouth Abbey.

Colby ignited the second half comeback in the JV Basketball team’s game against Tabor last weekend, scoring all of his points in the half, grabbing rebounds and keeping the Seawolves’ big team out of the paint.

Matt Richards

Varsity Football

In our 42-0 victory over Rivers at Friday Night Lights, Matt was a triple-threat, assisting in the shutout by contributing five tackles and a fumble recovery on defense, performing perfectly in his long snapping duties on special teams, and catching a pass for 5 yards, gaining 31 yards on a reverse for a big first down, and blocking well on offense.

Riley Cochrane
Posted Friday, Oct 13, 2017 11:00:00 AM

Girls JV Soccer

Riley has been an incredibly hard working and positive member of the team. She is a vocal supporter of the back line and has made several important saves. She helped hold the 1-1 score against Lawrence Academy last weekend. After playing our game, she then went up to Varsity to support them and quickly adjusted to the faster pace of the game. Thank you Riley for your hard work and dedication to the team.

Vivian Li

Vivian Li has been both physically and mentally tough during cross country practices and races this season. She took 3:21 off her race time from two weeks ago, finished first for the JV Squad at the Quad meet at Milton Academy, and contributed to the varsity score at home against Brooks last Friday. Her work ethic and dedication to the team has been noticed by her teammates and coaches alike.

Baily Randall
Posted Monday, Oct 2, 2017 12:15:00 PM

Varsity Field Hockey

Bailey has become a breakout performer on the team. Her calm composure in game situations would lead you to believe that she has been playing at SG for years. Bailey’s distribution ability in the mid-field has led to many offensive breaks and her defensive fight has hindered the opposition’s scoring opportunities. We are excited to see what is to come this season.

Georgina Green
Posted Monday, May 22, 2017 1:00:00 PM

Girls JV Tennis

This week's Athlete of the Week is Georgina "Gigi" Green '18, a member of the girls' JV tennis team. Coach Neile Golding remarked on Gigi's grit and budding talent, saying, "After playing doubles all last year, Gigi has become a strong singles player this season. On Saturday's match against St. Paul's, with deep strokes and some beautiful passing shots, Gigi stayed strong mentally and was able win 6-1, 6-0. Her second set win is what secured our team win for the day."

Mark Niu

Katie Ripa
Posted Monday, May 1, 2017 1:00:00 PM

Katie has been a key member of the team this spring, never more than during last Saturday’s victory over Rivers and Lawrence. She tallied 15 points by herself by winning both hurdle races and the javelin throw, and was part of the first place finishing 4x400 meter relay team. She is a great role model for all her teammates with her work ethic and sense of humor.

Libby McNeil
Posted Friday, Apr 21, 2017 12:00:00 PM

Varsity Softball

Last year was Libby's first experience with softball. She worked hard to learn the game, spending most of the season sitting on the bench. This year she has stepped into the starting centerfield position. Libby brings a determination to each practice and game that is contagious. She runs hard for each outfield hit, bats with confidence at the plate and always tries to improve her skills. The coaches appreciate her efforts and want to recognize her commitment to the team.

Tate Michelson
Posted Friday, Apr 21, 2017 12:00:00 PM

Boys Varsity Lacrosse

Tate works hard at the thankless and difficult position of short stick defensive midfielder. He has been asked to limit the scoring opportunities of our opponents and seemingly does so with the confidence of a veteran. In Saturday’s contest against Lawrence, when the team needed the ball for one final push in an effort to tie the game, Tate managed to win a loose ball, keeping hope alive for the Dragons.
