To close out the year, Dragon athletes were honored at the Spring Athletics Awards Ceremony in categories such as Most Improved, Most Valuable Player, and Coaches Cup.
"There is no doubt that we have made progress," said St. George's Athletics Director Rachel Horn. "Step by step, we will all continue to improve and grow as individual athletes and coaches, as teams, as citizens."
The spring season MVPs were: John Baldwin ’20 for golf, Peyton Mulhern ’19 and Thaddeus Stern ’19 for lacrosse, Alex Thill ’19 and JG Hill-Edgar ’21 for tennis, Sion Park ’20 for softball, Diya Moolani ’20 and Dima Piskun ’20 for track and field, Tbo Antonietti ’20 for sailing, and Liam Malsy ’19 for baseball.
Third-formers Grace Tatirosian and Alpha Barry were this year's Vermillion Cup winners.
Madi Aumann ’19 received the 2019 ISL Excellence Award, which is given to each school’s senior who is recognized for “exhibiting the Independent School League’s ideals of integrity, sportsmanship, fair play and good citizenship while participating as a multi-sport athlete during their ISL career.”
The 2019 spring season had 39 days of rain since students returned from March break, but with the school's two new turf fields, not a single lacrosse game or practice was cancelled or rescheduled, according to Horn.
