Our Baccalaureate Service tomorrow night will bring together the entire community for the last time this school year, as underformers depart on Friday and sixth-formers ready for a packed schedule of "Senior Weekend" events in advance of Prize Day on Monday. Monday's ceremony on the Hilltop will be livestreamed for those who'd like to watch from home. Sixth-form families: Look for a correspondence later this evening containing event viewing details. Senior Prefect and Honor Board Chair announced Congratulations to next year's Senior Prefect, Chase Mockridge '22, and 2021-22 Honor Board Chair Nayan Sapers '22, who were announced to the whole school at an outdoor assembly on the Crocker Field early Friday afternoon. College-bound athletes honored At a special ceremony on Monday night, the Athletics and College Counseling Offices teamed up to recognize those members of the Class of 2021 who will be continuing their athletic careers in college. Congratulations to all our Dragon athletes! Coaches, teammates, and friends gathered in the Campus Center Great Room for tributes and photos. You can read the full list of athletes here or check out the Flickr Gallery. Making the most of their afternoons A video by Caroline Froio '22 featuring students participating in various afternoon activities is now on our "Student Productions" YouTube channel. Caroline, whose passion is video editing, created the series of interviews for her own afternoon activity during the winter season. Surfing, tennis, volleyball, art, and music all get air time. Spring Festival Weekend An acoustic coffeehouse in the Great Room, a rock concert on West Steps by the student band, The Tooners, and a Slip N' Slide on Cliff Field were just some of the highlights from this past weekend – the last of the school year with all students on campus. Students show solidarity Students wore red last week in support of Red Sneakers Day for Oakley and to raise awareness about the severity of food allergies. The Dress Down Day was organized by Olivia-Merrill Debbs '24. Senior Art Show Sixth-form art students completed their final projects and are being showcased in the Hunter Gallery. Sculptures made by seniors were installed this week and will be on display until the end of the school year. News from our classrooms It's Assessment Week on the Hilltop and students have been busy completing their final exams and projects. Students in teacher John Reardon's World Religions class finished the school year with final presentations on Monday. One student did his presentation on the Hindu Holi Festival, even bringing in some traditional powders for students to try. Third-formers in seven Humanities I classes had an "exam period" in the Study Hall today to make their presentations on what they've learned this year, which included skits, videos, powerpoints, and TikTok videos. Throughout the second semester, Thalia Mancini '21 has been working on an independent study focusing on sports psychology. She shared her research through a presentation today geared toward helping athletes understand their mental game and get the most out of competition. The presentation also included segments from interviews with former professional tennis player Todd Martin P'21, '24 (who will also deliver this year's Prize Day chapel address) and Mallory Poole, Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Wellness and Leadership Development at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Chapel Talks Sixth-formers Dorothy Carlson, Gonzalo Flores, and Maggie O'Connor delivered the last chapel talks of the year, which may be viewed in the Chapel Talk Portal. Fifth-former Min Lee also delivered a chapel talk on Monday on behalf of the St. George's Asian Affinity Group. Sustainability Club's Swap Shop The Sustainability Club opened its "Swap Shop" for students to donate unwanted items during the move-out period.
