May 19, 2021 • E-news For Parents Only Election results are in for 2021-22 student leaders Next year's student leaders were announced in a special assembly on Friday. Congratulations to the 2021-2021 School Prefects: Alpha Barry, Jack Hanson, Tharaly Joseph, Chase Mockridge, and Augusta Taylor! Congratulations, as well, to the 2021-2021 Honor Board members: Tucker Ballou, Camryn Flessel, William Gooch, Catherine O'Connor, and Nayan Sapers! The Senior Prefect and Honor Board Chair will be announced at a leadership assembly on Friday. Students recognized by Princeton Prize Committee Alexander Gaines '23 and Zuriel Jimenez '23 have been recognized by the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, receiving Certificates of Accomplishment for their exceptional work in DEI awareness. The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes and rewards high school students who, through their volunteer activities, have undertaken significant efforts to advance racial equity and understanding in their schools or communities. Zuriel and Alexander created special student programming for the St. George's Student Experience block this year and organized a "Daily Dose of Black Excellence" in February, highlighting Black luminaries throughout history. Prize Day details Our on-campus Prize Day celebration is for sixth-formers and their special guests only this year, however the event will be live-streamed for those who'd like to watch from home. Visit our Prize Day web page for more details. With recent state and federal guidelines being updated, we're still putting together final details for the Hilltop event, so sixth-form families should stay tuned for a letter from Head of School Alixe Callen later this week. Meanwhile, the schedule for what we've dubbed this year's "Senior Weekend" – the three-day lead-up to Prize Day when only the Class of 2021 will be on campus — is all planned and packed with fun, thanks to the Student Life Office. Summer Learning registration extended We've extended the deadline to register for summer learning and summer writing opportunities. Classes still available include Geometry, Advanced Modern European History, and Introduction to Fine Art Photography. Learn more or register here. News from our classrooms Students in Ray Woishek's 2-D Drawing class, including some soon-to-be graduates, were finishing the semester with a self-directed drawing project this morning. Noted Woishek: "There are several sixth-formers in the class who are sentimentally focusing on campus-related subject matter," such as scenes and views on the Hilltop. Chapel Talks Sixth-formers Jack Martin and Thalia Mancini delivered yesterday's chapel talks, which may be viewed in the Chapel Talk Portal.
Thalia also sang "Grow As We Go" before her chapel talk, performing with Brady Lyons '21, Belle Garnett '22, Charlotte Potter '22, Tessa Brown '23, Emmeline Heaney '24 and pianist Matt Kelly.
