April 7, 2021 • E-news For Parents Only Students return for spring The Hilltop came alive earlier this week with the sounds of returning Dragons — and we're grateful to all the families and friends who helped students safely and efficiently move back onto campus following Spring Break. The faculty, staff, and dining hall crew are working diligently to care for your kids during this quarantine period! All COVID test results so far have been negative, with repeat testing scheduled for later this week. Good Friday and Easter services The Chapel Team hosted virtual services for Good Friday and Easter, which may be viewed on our YouTube channel. The Good Friday service included organ music, readings and prayers offered by the Rev. Jackie Kirby, Tofunmi Olatubosun '21, Tharaly Joseph '22, Mr. John Mackay, Ryan Hellenthal '23, JG Hill-Edgar '21, Lena Benway '21, Head of School Alixe Callen, Conor Weeks '24, Mrs. Holly Williams, Maya Daly '23, Jesse Guay '24, Nayan Sapers '22, Mrs. JoEllen McMahon, Mrs. Kelly Richards, and Ms. Virginia Buckles. Giving back on Spring Break While Michaela Birmingham '24 was on Spring Break, she organized a neighborhood food drive — collecting 287 pounds of food for a total of 267 meals! Great job, Michaela, demonstrating the school's mission of constructive service to the world! Get ready to show your St. George's spirit! This year's St. George's Day of Giving will be held on Friday, April 30, and we hope you join us in our community-wide show of Dragon Pride! Your support means the world to us. Please consider making a gift to an area of school life that means the most to you, volunteer an hour or two to help us spread the word, or contribute a photo showing your family's school spirit for us to use on social media. Students take the lead on going green The Sustainability Club is celebrating Earth Month and helping to educate the Hilltop community on sustainable practices. The club recently made this video featuring Dr. Sarah Matarese giving a tour of the hydroponics lab in her classroom in the Academic Center, including a daring … Swiss Chard Challenge! New summer courses added Two new humanities classes — World Religions and Freedom, Decision, & Ethics — have been added to his year's Summer Learning Program. If you're interested in signing up, registration ends May 15 and may be completed here. Geronimo applications due next week Applications to sail onboard Geronimo are due on April 12, 2021.
