Dec. 9, 2020 • E-news For Parents Only Catch the holiday spirit There's nothing like performances by the Hilltoppers, Snapdragons, and vocal and instrumental ensembles to lift our spirits and put us in the holiday mood. In commemoration of our annual Christmas Music Chapel Service yesterday, the musical groups, along with student readers, music department faculty, and the chapel team, produced an amazing pre-recorded version of one of our most highly anticipated events of the year. Watch the service here. To view a playlist of individual music performances, click here.
Also, If you missed the YouTube premiere of this year's virtual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols last week, you may watch it here. News from our classrooms Students in science teacher Sarah Matarese's advanced environmental science class made presentations about different forms of environmental injustice over Zoom on Monday during this week's remote-learning period. The students chose a topic or event related to racial discrimination in environmental policy-making and enforcement of regulations and laws, then wrote a short paper and presented their topics to the class. Topics included the impact of Hurricane Katrina, food deserts, "Cancer Alley" in Louisiana, and redlining.
Art teacher Steve Totin utilized the screen-sharing feature with his visual foundation class on Zoom this week to demonstrate shading techniques and how to add value (light and shadow) to a drawing.
