Dec. 4, 2019 • E-news For Parents Only Winter Trimester begins Students were greeted with a blanket of fresh snow on their return to the Hilltop after Thanksgiving Break for the start of the Winter Trimester. The campus is decked out for the holidays in time for SG's annual holiday traditions and students are back to classes for the next chapter of their 2019-2020 studies. Winter athletics season starts Today marks the official start of the winter athletics season as the boys' and girls' varsity ice hockey teams take to the ice and the girls' varsity basketball team hits the court. The boys' ice hockey team won a scrimmage against Académie Saint-Louis on Nov. 16, but today marks the team's ISL opener. • Dominic Mello '21 and the boys' varsity basketball team were recently previewed in local newspaper Southcoast Today ahead of the start of the 2019-2020 winter season. SG students head to conferences A delegation of students and faculty from St. George's is currently on its way to Seattle for this year's People of Color Conference and Student Diversity Leadership Conference. Head of School Alixe Callen joins students Chiron Rose '21, Tofunmi Olatubosun '21, Amolroop Hundal '21, Rhyan Pina '21, Alpha Barry '22, and Christopher Elvin '22 and faculty Dr. Kim Bullock, Emmanuel Daring, the Rev. Dr. Jackie Kirby, Melanie Lewis, Randall Person, and Emma Bartnick on the trip. Getting into the holiday spirit Third-form students decorated a Christmas tree in the main entrance of Old School during conference period today. With hot chocolate and donut holes in hand, they adorned the tree with ornaments, ribbon, and beads, and then topped it all off with a star. You can view photos on Flickr.
