Dear St. George's Families, In a swiftly dwindling number of days, students from many corners will make their journeys back to St. George's School as we begin our 123rd year on the Hilltop. Eagerly awaiting their arrival will be scores of dedicated staff and faculty, all fully committed to ensuring success for each of our new and returning students. Many of us invested extensive time during the summer months engaged in powerful professional-growth opportunities, enlightening travel experiences, and valuable personal reflection. As September approaches, all of us turn our attention to our students and their families as we rededicate ourselves to our community, bound by high standards, common purpose, and mutual respect. St. George's is truly a remarkable place of possibility where individuals are uplifted and transformed, where friendships are forged and sustained over lifetimes, and where values are assimilated and paid forward. In anticipation of their return, we hope that our new and returning students will spend some time reflecting on their myriad goals and aspirations. Each new school year brings fresh opportunities to make daily choices that challenge; large and small choices that may serve to both define who we are as individuals and shape and strengthen our community. All of us here look forward to supporting and working together with our students and their families to make the most of every opportunity. For both returning and new students and families, this letter contains important information to help you begin planning your arrival on campus. We appreciate your attention to these details and if you have any questions or concerns, you may reach us at StudentLife@stgeorges.edu or 401-842-6798. Enjoy the last few weeks of the summer and we look forward to seeing you all soon. Mervan F. Osborne Associate Head of School for Student Life Major Dates Please be sure to look at the updated Major Dates for 2019-20 to help you plan your year appropriately. In addition to the start and end of school breaks, it also lists our Community Weekends, during which all students are required to be on campus. Students with unavoidable conflicts will need to use the leave-of-convenience process to request permission to be off-campus.
The Shield Next week, each family will receive a digital version of The Shield, our community handbook. It is important to note that there have been changes to some policies and procedures, which should be reviewed before arriving to campus.
