Things to Note

Newport will be busy

The weekend is a particularly busy one in downtown Newport, with the Audrain's Newport Concours & Motor Week as well as a John Legend concert at the Tennis Hall of Fame.

Events begin on Friday

Registration will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday in the Main Common Room in Old School. A buffet dinner will be available in King Hall throughout the evening, from 5:30–8 p.m., and we hope you'll drop by for a bite to eat as well as for a family photo. At 8 p.m., dorm open houses will provide an opportunity for you to meet your son's or daughter's dorm parents and friends. Also at 8 p.m., day students and their families will have their own reception to meet with non-dorm faculty in the Hamblet Campus Center Great Room. Refer to the schedule for more details. Please note that students are expected to remain on campus for the events of Friday evening.

Meetings & Appointments

Although this year's Family Weekend occurs before we will have issued formal midterm grades, advisors and teachers will be ready to discuss your student's academic progress with you. Should you wish to meet individually with your student's advisor, teachers and/or college counselors, you can schedule your appointments online. Schedule your appointment by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3. After that time you can email the advisor or teacher directly to make an appointment.

Students return Tuesday, Oct. 8

Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8, are school holidays and all students may leave campus after their last commitment on Saturday. If your son or daughter will be leaving campus, you will receive an email from REACH when they submit a leave request. Please be sure to approve their request so we know if they will be leaving campus. Note that varsity practices will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. and all other students are expected back by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
