Coaches

  • Head Coach
    Devon Ducharme (she/her/hers) teaches physics in the STEM Department and global studies in the Humanities Department. She is the Connected Learning Department Chair and oversees our Global Programs. Ducharme has coached ice hockey, lacrosse, and assisted in the athletic training room. She is currently the head JV girls’ hockey coach. She has been a dorm parent and dorm head and currently serves on the evening duty team. Ducharme came to St. George's in the fall of 2006 and earned a bachelor's degree from Colby College in both physics and English while also studying theater. She earned a master’s degree from Northeastern University in global studies and international affairs in 2015. She also earned a certificate in specialization in design thinking and innovation from the Darden School Foundation at the University of Virginia in 2016.
  • Sarah Matarese is a member of the STEM Department and teaches biology, environmental science, marine biology, and holds the Vince Astor ‘10 Teaching Chair in Science. Matarese holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s degree in biology, and a Ph.D. in biology with a concentration in marine biology, from the University of Rhode Island. She is passionate about engaging her students in research projects. Matarese is interested specifically in the biodiversity of the marine habitat in Narragansett Bay and how that may be affected by climate change. She has coached girls thirds soccer, JV softball, and JV Ice hockey, and she currently runs the Marine Biology afternoon activity. Matarese lives on campus with her family, and is a dorm parent.
