Head CoachCoach Lang arrived at St. George’s in 20
Coach Lang arrived at St. George's in 2014 with nearly 15 years of coaching experience. A graduate of Middlesex School in 1999, Lang competed in the ISL at the varsity level for three seasons in football, basketball, and tennis, winning two All-League awards playing at the No. 1 singles and doubles spots. After high school, Lang attended the University of Connecticut, where he was a four-year letter winner and a team captain his senior year. He achieved a career-high doubles ranking of No. 57 in the country in the winter of 2002. After college, Lang stayed on board of the UConn Tennis Program in the role of assistant coach to the Men's Program. Upon completing his course work, he moved to Tampa, Florida, and joined Saddlebrook Resort’s Hopman Academy team as a high-performance coach and eventually a Group Leader with the Junior Program. Between 2004-2006, his responsibilities included traveling with junior players to USTA and ITF events in the South and Latin America. After two years, he moved to Philadelphia and assumed the role of Director of Junior Competition at the Merion Cricket Club, in Haverford, Pennsylvania. At that time, he also founded the nonprofit organization The Down the Line and Beyond Foundation, whose mission, to this day, is to provide tennis and character training through education. When he arrived on the Hilltop, Coach Lang stepped in as assistant varsity football coach and varsity tennis coach. As a member of the St. George’s faculty, he also serves as Director of the Horton Center for Learning, which creates and sustains academic support programs for SG students in their quest for excellence and growth in the classroom and in the community. During the summer, Coach Lang works as a teaching pro at the International Tennis Hall of Fame's tennis club as a member of the Pro Staff team, focusing on the junior program and player-development.
