Baseball Coach Information

  • Head Coach

    Justin Sellar is entering his fourth season as Head Baseball Coach in 2022 after joining the St. George’s community in the fall of 2018. After graduating with a B.A. from Wheaton College (MA) in 2017, he completed his advanced degree, M.S. in Sports Management and Athletic Administration, from Southern New Hampshire University in 2020.

    Coach Sellar has an extensive background as a player. During his collegiate days, he spent two years at Eckerd College (FL) competing in the nationally regarded Sunshine State Conference as a catcher. After two years at Eckerd, Sellar transferred to Wheaton College (MA) and competed in two NCAA tournaments. In 2016, he played in 32 games boasting an average of .342, helped the Lyons to a 31-13 overall record, NEWMAC Tournament Championship, and #1 seed in the New England Regional. In 2017, Wheaton knocked off Shenandoah University 1-0 and advanced to the College World Series for the third time in program history.

    His young coaching career has already seen him serve in several roles across the Aquidneck Island community. In 2018, he was an Assistant Coach at Rogers High School in Newport, RI, responsible for the development of catchers. When he joined the SG community, his involvement and catching expertise continued on a part-time basis.

    Coach Sellar has served as the top assistant of the Newport County Senior American Legion Baseball team (2018, 2020), and as the Head Coach of the Junior American Legion team (2019) during recent summers. In the spring of 2021, Sellar joined the staff of Garciaparra Baseball Group (GBG) Northeast, where he serves as an instructor and assistant coach.

    In addition to his work with the baseball program, Sellar is an Associate Athletic Director and serves on the coaching staff of the football program.

  • Assistant Coach
    John Roeser teaches advanced economics and English and also coaches JV boys’ basketball and varsity baseball. Prior to his arrival at St. George’s, Roeser worked as a senior policy analyst at American International Group in New York’s financial district and as a private practice attorney for firms in New York and New Jersey. Roeser’s primary areas of legal practice included environmental, intellectual property, and banking law. Before law school, Roeser worked as a teacher at The Pingry School in New Jersey, teaching Advanced Placement economics and government as well as coaching soccer, basketball, and baseball. Roeser holds bachelor’s degrees, cum laude, from Duke University in English and history and a juris doctor degree and a master’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.
  • Assistant Coach
    Jake Murray attended Middletown High school ’12 before completing a post graduate year at Bridgton Academy ‘13. After high school Murray attended Southern New Hampshire University and Rhode Island College while playing baseball and earning a Bachelor's degree in Management. Murray also holds a masters degree in sports leadership from Johnson and Wales University.
