Loss 2-10
We had a challenging match against a strong Milton squad. Doris Dai, playing #4 singles, was our only singles player who was able to get a set. She fought hard, angling tough shots and beating her opponent 7-5 in the first set. At first doubles, Hope Seiler and Bella Ballato were unable to get a set, but they improved in the second by being more thoughtful with their placement and lost by a close 4-6 score. Hallie Noland and Libby Meister, playing #2 doubles, were able to stay mentally strong and win their first set in a tiebreaker, (7-5). Although they lost their second, they were aggressive and moved well on the court. Charlotte Dejoux and Dorothy Carlson played in one of our exhibition matches, (as well as their first match of the season). It was a good opener for them, applying doubles strategy that we had worked on during practice and winning the set 8-3. Although it was a tough loss, we had some good points and some very close games and we are looking forward to applying what we learned from this experience to our match on Saturday against Lawrence Academy.
