Loss 4-11
The girls’ varsity tennis team hosted ISL tennis powerhouse, Milton Academy. It was cool and windy on the Hilltop this afternoon with temperatures in the mid 40's and intermittent wind gusts. Not ideal tennis weather, but we were hoping that the wind would be at our players' backs when we needed it most. Our team goal was to compete respectfully and put up twice as many points on the board as we did last year against Milton, and we did just that. Milton ran away with the match and an 4-11 win, but our players competed hard and played respectable tennis.

Our two singles points came from Lilli Wytrzes at #6 singles. Lilli played a marathon match and came away with a two set 6-4, 7-6 (7-4 tiebreak) win. Alex Thill, Lana Gaige, Mary Leys, Julia Schofield, and Bridgit Jones also battled in their singles matches, but the Mustangs seemed to be at the top of their game while we are still trying to find our groove with only a few matches under our belts. Alex Thill and Lana Gaige teamed up for #1 doubles and bantered back and forth with their opponents until halfway through their eight-game pro set before taking command and coming away with an 8-5 win. Mary Leys and Bridgit Jones finished up their singles matches and immediately jumped into #2 doubles play and ran away with their match with an 8-1 win. Hollis Steinberg and Ainsley Lotuff had their own marathon match at #3 doubles. After being down 0-3 in their pro set, they fought back to go up 6-5 in the match, but ran out of gas at the end when Milton evened up the score to 7-7 and would eventually win the set 7-8 with a tiebreak win of 2-7. Ainsley and Hollis have been great additions to our varsity team and continue to compete respectfully in each match.

We are off to Lawrence Academy on Saturday. Thank you to all the parents that support the girls and our program each match. We are very appreciative.
