St. George’s traveled to Andover, Massachusetts, to take on Phillips Academy. After a successful Division 5 campaign at last weekend’s High School Nationals, the Dragons were up against a team that had been highly competitive in Division 2. In many of the matches, the Dragons were in points, but unable to finish against more experienced or more consistent opponents. At #5, Linus Maurer was able to use good lobs and drops again his opponent, however, his opposite number had too many answers. At #3, JC LaCerda-Jones again showed the quality squash he has played all season, but was overmastered by a player who kept the ball tight to the wall with his straight drives. At #6 and #7, Josh Kwon and Nick Doan, who have shown consistent improvement all year, continued that in matches that were quickly out of reach. Playing on the glass show-court, Ismail Atef accounted for the team’s only victory, besting the Andover #1 in four games. Up next for the Dragons, BB&N at Infinitum Squash in Sudbury on Monday.
