Win 3-0

Today, a determined Dragon girls’ hockey team arrived at Rivers School ready to play against the #2 ranked team and walked away with a hard-fought 3-0 victory. Rivers was coming off a 2-2 tie with Nobles just days ago and was poised to be a tough opponent. The Dragons opened the scoring in the first period on an unassisted snipe from Katie Keenan, who barreled down the wing and blew the puck by the Rivers goalie. The second period saw the pesky Dragons play with great effort and structure, while Katie DeSa stood on her head in the goal. Olivia Mastrangelo was able to capitalize twice on breakdowns that found her in alone on goal, both times picking the top corner with her shot. Assists were collected on those goals by Keenan (2), Liv Haley, and Peyton Mulhern. Freshman Katie DeSa shut the door in the third and solidified her spot as one of the best goaltenders in all of prep hockey. The defense of Aumann, George, Mulhern, McNeil, and Jones was stellar all day. Of special note was the play of Mary Leys, who won pucks and created chances all over the ice. The Dragons look forward to a home game against Dexter Southfield this Friday night.
