Loss 4-10
The season finale against archrival Middlesex was played on a gorgeous Prize Day Weekend Saturday on Cliff Field overlooking Sachuest Beach. SG played its finest game of the season, but fell to a strong and deep Zebra squad by a score of 4-10. The Dragons started off strong, scoring the first two goals of the game, both on nice dodge-and-shoot tallies by Chris Lawrence and Sargent Johnson. The close defense of Oscar King, Chase Mockridge, William Kim and Ajay Naik did an outstanding job all day, playing excellent man defense, gobbling up ground balls, and clearing with precision. Middlesex scored three times, each unanswered in the first and second quarters, to take a 2-6 lead at the half. SG didn't give up, however, and matched the Zebras' output in the third stanza behind a goal by Teghan Michelson. The fourth quarter saw the Dragons suffer from some untimely penalties and, although they got within four goals (3-7), they weren't able to close the gap -- despite a nice goal by Nick Scully (assisted by Lawrence). Josh Kwon hustled all afternoon, making five saves, but also doing a great job of backing up the goal and clearing the ball. The midfielders were busy, as Michelson, Lawrence, Henry Dane, Jason Kwon, and Dan Ziadie all had highlights. Charlie Parsons took some great shots and, along with Scully, Johnson and Sam Judson, gave a great effort in the offensive box. SG finishes the season with a record of 1-11. Coaches Mackay and Person thank the players for ending the season on a high note.
