Win 8-4
We had a great matchup against a strong Thayer squad on Wednesday. Sasha Smithie, playing #1 singles, came out strong. She played a very smart game, making excellent angled shots and using the entire court. She also had some very strong serving and net play, even having a four aces. She beat her opponent 6-2, 6-1. Lily Connell, playing #2 singles, once again played an opponent who looked to move Lily around the court. Lily did an excellent job of not giving up on any ball, committing at net and forcing her opponent to move just as much. She won the first set with a close 7-5 score and the second 6-2. Bella Ballato, playing #3 singles, came out strong against her opponent. She won the first set 6-2 with thoughtful placement and confidence on the court. For the second set, Bella's opponent stepped up her game and took the set in a close 4-6 battle. Doris Dai and her opponent were equally matched, just like the other singles teams. The first set, Doris lost with a close 4-6 score. Doris did not give up, however, and fought back with strong shots, winning her second set 6-3. Our first doubles team consisted of Hope Seiler and Hallie Noland. They struggled a little at first to play their game, but eventually were able to focus in and create some great points. Their opponents were very strong and gave them a good match. Hope and Hallie ultimately lost their sets 5-7, 2-6. At #2 doubles, Nicola Rogers and Catie Meister also started off a little slower, but picked up their game quickly. They won their match with an impressive 6-0, 6-2. It was an excellent match for both sides and both teams had a fun time playing. We look forward to our final match on Saturday against Middlesex.
