Yesterday proved to be a day for the Tigers and not the Dragons. The match was sure to be a highly-contested one, based on the teams' records on paper. Due to court limitations, the match started in the reverse order, with singles play. With six points up for grabs right out of the gate, the pressure was on both teams. Thayer ended up winning four of the six singles points, clinching the match win before doubles play took place. As a result, only two of the three doubles matches were played. The #1 position was forfeited due to an SG player's injury during singles.

Highlights:
At the #5 singles spot, Simon Li '20 won a convincing first set before his opponent changed his strategy and lured Simon into a mistake-filled second set. In the third set 10-point tiebreaker, Simon regained his poise and his consistency, getting out to a 9-4 lead. After a strong comeback by his opponent to even things at 9-9, Simon won the next two points to clinch the match win.

At the #4 singles spot, co-captain Ridgely Kelly '19 continued his extremely successful senior campaign by making quick work of a young, but skilled opponent. Ridgely crushed his opponent's resolve by getting out to a 4-1 lead after winning multiple "deuce" points to win games in the first set. The second set was a breeze, with Ridgely letting up very little, taking the set 6-1 and getting the overall match point for his team.

Friday afternoon will mark the last match of the season for this Dragons team. The "Middlesex Day" match will begin at 4 p.m. on the Hilltop. Come out and cheer on the boys for the last time in 2019! It will be a great end to the wonderful careers of our two seniors, co-captains Colby Richardson and Ridgely Kelly!
