Loss 3-8
On a beautiful afternoon on the Cliff, St. George's JV boys fell to ISL rival Thayer Academy by a score of 3-8. The Tigers came out strong, scoring four first quarter goals and adding another before SG answered on a nice goal by Teghan Michelson off an assist from Sargent Johnson. The Dragons had their chances in the first half, possessing the ball, but coming away empty-handed. The third quarter saw Thayer add three more unanswered goals, mostly off full-field transition plays, despite strong midfield defense from Dan Ziadie, Henry Dane and William Kim. In the final stanza, Johnson and Chris Lawrence scored, both off nice dodge-and-shoot plays. Charlie Parsons and Nick Scully showed good composure in the offensive end, while Chase Mockridge and Ajay Naik played well at close defense. Josh Kwon, after a sluggish start, made three saves on the day in net. With the loss, the Dragons fall to 1-10 on the season with their finale at home on Saturday against archrival Middlesex. Game time is 2 p.m.
