Hunter Art Gallery

The Hunter Gallery

The Hunter Gallery plays an integral part in the St. George’s School Art Department’s mission to fully educate students in the visual arts and the creative process.

The Hunter Gallery is located in the central lobby of the William H. Drury and Richard Grosvenor Center for the Arts. Built in 1999, construction of the building was made possible by the efforts of many caring, dedicated committee members, alumni, teachers, students, parents and friends of St. George’s School. With Betsy S. Michel ’85-’89 at the helm of the Board of Trustees and Barbara van Beuren ’75 at the head of the Design Committee, the dream of building a place where St. George’s students could study art, music and theater came to fruition.

The Hunter Gallery offers students, the St. George’s community and the public an opportunity to view the work of emerging and established artists from a variety of disciplines. Throughout the year, art from galleries, private collections and artists is borrowed for shows that generally run three to four weeks. Each exhibition is accompanied by an opening reception for the artist and a gallery talk.
