The Island Impact Initiative
St. George’s School's Island Impact Initiative, established in the 2025-26 school year, gives students a unique look inside four Aquidneck Island organizations and the role service and philanthropy play in their ability to thrive and fulfill their mission. The Island Impact Initiative will offer students a two-day, off-campus experience during which they will meet with the leaders of the Norman Bird Sanctuary, Aquidneck Island Land Trust, Newport Tree Conservancy, and Save the Bay to learn more about their economic models and actionable goals within the local community. Students will also learn about careers in nonprofit organizations, working for social causes, and environmental sustainability.
The program is being made possible by the generosity of St. George’s trustee Patrick Wood Prince ’88, principal of Annandale LLC and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Preservation Society of Newport County.
In the spirit of the school mission, this is an opportunity to see one way of living "lives...of constructive service to the world and to God."
