On behalf of the Parents Committee, we would like to welcome all new and inquiring families to St. George's School. There are currently 37 families representing St. George's parents on the Parents Committee.
The Parents Committee is a forum for discussing issues and ideas to enhance the life of the school. Please view our newly adopted
Mission Statement. We encourage thoughts on how parents can advocate for the school, and we welcome any questions parents might have. Click
here for a list of the 2009-10 Committee.
As part of our efforts to show appreciation to the faculty for all that they do, the Parents Committee runs the Parents for Faculty Program. Parents may contribute a tangible item—such as tickets to a show, gift certificates to Newport restaurants, or a week at a vacation home—that is then raffled off to a faculty member. If you are interested in participating in the program, click
here for the form to submit an item.
Last year the committee also worked with the Communications Office to create the Parents Portal on the St. George’s web site for parents of enrolled students. This area of the site is private, so you need a username and password to log in, but it contains lots of valuable information that will hopefully help you during your student's tenure at SG. It provides access to three different venues for answering your questions:
1. If you think you have a basic question about school procedures, check the FAQ section of the
Parent Portal;
2. If you think you have a question someone at school could answer, but you don’t know whom to contact, e-mail the FAQ manager at the top of the FAQ section.
Soon, we also will offer this option:
3. If you have a question you think another parent could answer, post it to our new Parent-to-Parent Blog, also behind the log-in. (We're just getting this set up!)
Beyond our advocacy and communications efforts, the committee also serves the critical role of assisting with the Annual Fund campaign. Last year 84 percent of current families generously participated in the Annual Fund—an impressive showing. Our goal now is for every parent to participate with a gift at any level. Help us reach our goal: Click
