Colin Mort is the G. Danforth Hollins Teaching Chair and English department chair. With a background in creative writing and the history of the novel, Mort is particularly interested in novels from around the world. He cultivates a student-centered learning environment where all students should expect to participate actively. In addition to his teaching duties, Mort coaches varsity boys’ squash, and has led squash teams to both ISL and New England Championships. A published writer of fiction and essays, Mort holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Tennessee, a M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Virginia, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Colgate University, from which he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
