Mike Dawson joined the St. George’s faculty in 2007. Prior to that, he spent 10 years sailing in different capacities as captain, program director and marine science instructor with high school semester-at-sea programs. He has also worked for several outdoor experiential education programs and developed his own wilderness travel program in 2001. On board Geronimo he hopes to create an experience where students learn about the sea and marine ecology, while also challenging themselves and developing leadership and teamwork skills. He believes that a unique program like Geronimo can be a transformative experience for students. Mike is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. A professional mariner since 1996, he has an Ocean Master’s (captains) license issued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
