George Briggs teaches Latin and English, supervises a dormitory and is the head coach of the boys’ and girls’ track and field teams. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in Arts and Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College. Students in his classes explore a variety of genres and narrative forms, including traditional novels, nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels and films. Briggs is a firm believer in the collaborative nature of learning and enjoys seeing students relate their lives as a whole to their classroom experiences. As a coach, he holds a Level 1 certification from USA Track & Field and specializes in the horizontal and vertical jumps and the hurdles.
