We are pleased you are interested in applying to St. George's School. In short, the application to St. George's contains the Candidate Statement, one essay, school and teacher evaluations, standardized test results (normally the SSAT), a Parent Statement, and in almost every case a personal interview.
While academic excellence is the most important criterion for acceptance at St. George's School, from the beginning of the admission process through enrollment, our admission candidates, their families, and our staff work toward the same goal: helping each other to imagine "the fit" between the student and the school.
How well any student will do at St. George's largely depends on how readily the student adapts to the new teaching styles encountered here, new homework patterns, and new standards. In assessing how well an admission candidate will fit into the school's program, our admission staff reviews each student's complete application. Each student's prospects for success are evaluated thoroughly by at least three experienced staff members working independently of one another. This reliable and responsive process has over the years enabled us to know a great deal about our students before they enroll, which facilitates our planning for their future integration into the school community.
